Palma Chilena or Jubaea chilensis
Palma is my favourite plant
because it seems beautiful to me, It reminds me a warm summer day on the beach, the sea, the sand and the sea breeze, that is, a moment of peace and tranquility for me.
Palma has a
cylindrical trunk, it can grow up to 30 m in height and with diameters between
0.8 and 1.1 cm. It has large leaves grouped at the end of the trunk next to its
fruits. Palma is an endemic species of the Mediterranean area in central Chile.
It is distributed inside the sclerophyllous forest and coexists with species
such as Quillay, Peumo, Espino and Boldo. At present the distribution of the
species is located between the regions of Coquimbo and Maule.
Palma Chilena is in a state of vulnerable
conservation according to the Libro Rojo de la flora terrestre de Chile.
